I find myself doing this frequently for no reason other than I might be bored. But I've read many times on here where I-66 in NOVA is worse than I-95 in NOVA on a consistent basis. I often go to WTOP.com and look at traffic, especially if I'm going somewhere and admittedly my main concern is now I 81 in Shenandoah Valley instead of NOVA. Today is the norm when I do this so take this as conclusive evidence. (HA) But I- 95 in NOVA is just almost solid red from 295 (N Richmond) to the beltway and 66 is all green. I would actually expect to find some red on 66 but I didn't. I do this daily due to my work and just sometimes when I'm bored. I would say 8 of 10 times I find that I 95 is much worse than I 66. Especially on weekends but I know I've read statements on here that 66 is always worse than 95. I 66 can really suck but I've lived here since 73 and have always thought 95 to be worse. Anyone else?

Please find a hobby or interest to cover when you're bored. Checking traffic on I66 or I95 during downtime is really for Jamie Whitten ( traffic reporter for WMAL) .

Really... if you're that bored - I have LOTS of things that need done around here (grass cut, painting, mount hose holders, etc.

Honestly I think 66 is worse on weekdays because at least with 95 you have the option of HOV and EZpass. You don't have that on 66. The very poor design also does no favors. 95 is far worse on weekends. If you have to go South to anywhere, you better be out of the area by 8am or you'll lose a lot of time between PWC and Fredericksburg.

It really seems like it varies.

Some days 66 seems worse... other days 95 seems much worse. They're both pretty bad in their own ways.

I refuse to see relatives in Richmond from Memorial Day to Labor Day because of beach traffic. 95 is way worse.

It's also worse because there are no alternatives. 50 sucks but at least it's an option.

I agree with The Dissenter. Previously when I've commented on I66 being worse than 95, I am strictly comparing rush hour traffic and the commutes my counterparts have with those of us who live off of I95. For weekday work commutes, I66 is generally the loser here. Wasn't always that way, but it is now. Too much construction out that way, too many people, and too little options or incentive for carpools/slugging, etc.

For the weekends, I95 is much worse and carries much more traffic.

It is funny. I thought one of the big pluses of being back here was being closer to my hometown in Hampton Roads and VA Beach, in four years in being back, I've been down there exactly twice, neither trip during summer. It is just not worth it to deal with the traffic.
