Ignore all the people about not posting in the right thread. They are angry because Hillary is going to win. They have nothing to do but be internet bullies I guess. You are just looking for info, I get it.

Christine had good advice. I would follow it. Get the attorney, it is money well spent. The law sucks, but it is what it is. Based on the people I know that have gotten this, they don't mess around. You are much better being prepared, plus if you have a security clearance (or might get one in the future), this potentially could impact you. Food for thought. Good luck to you sir or mam.

Yep. It drops to 40 just before you get to the bridge. Every time I go that way I'm at 55-60 going down the hill. Slow to 40 and I swear if somebody is behind me they just about rear end me. They usually get pretty pi$$ed too.

aoberoi9,

Am sure it happens.. It sucks but guess what, I think you are lucky that you just got a reckless..
In VA, 20mph over the speed limit is guaranteed reckless driving.. 40 over is for sure reckless and am surprised the cop still just gave reckless and not a suspension.. Hire a lawyer.. take the $30 defensive driving course/test as a good gesture (and to reduce your points).. and discuss with the lawyer to come up with a good excuse and also pray that the cop wont show up on your court date and it maybe dismissed.

Reckless will say in your record for long time..
If you ever apply for Global Entry type permits, it wont be approved as you have this on your record (I think for 11 years).
If you are someone who needs visa to go to Canada, you will not get a visa for 5 years, because in Canada reckless driving offence is jailable for upto 5 years. The best is to discuss with lawyer and get it reduced it to "speeding" or "improper driving" and pay the fine.

Come on now, stop with the incorrect information. A police cannot give a "suspension." The Reckless charge is the same whether it is 20 or 40 over. And another thing. 20 Over is not an automatic charge of Reckless. Officer's discretion.
