Unless the VRE is needed to go to union station, any other option would be faster. The VRE station is a 20 minute drive, minimum and then walking time to get to train platform. It's about $160 a month too.
VRE makes perfect sense if you lived in near the woodbridge or Ripon VRE station but it's a drive from lake ridge.

Great, I will start taking the Omnibus next week. Tackett's Mill is pretty big; where is the bus stop? Do you think it would be possible for me to type on a laptop while riding? Thanks again!

The bus stop is on Harbor Drive. Just down from McDonald's, across from Merchant's Tire & Auto.

And from that bus stop, the next stop is in the commuter lot which is two blocks away, across Minnievile from CVS.

Fantastic! I had no idea until now that a commuter lot was at that intersection and I have driven by there many times. Funny how you don't notice things when you're not looking for them. I'm going to take the bus tomorrow, wish me luck. =) And thanks again to everyone for the helpful answers!
