Right now, I live and work in McLean, and love my five minute commute.

But I'm considering a job in Arlington. What would the morning/evening commutes be like for me? My understanding is that 66 is HOV-2 only or something? What route would I have to take?

Specific location details:
Home: McLean, right around intersection of 495 and 123/Chain Bridge
Potential Job: Arlington/Ballston, right around 66 and North Glebe Rd.

Google Maps seems to actually suggest not taking 66, but taking Chain Bridge to Old Dominion and straight down North Glebe...

I can deal with a 30 minute commute or so, but just don't want to have to deal with an hour+ like I did before.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Google has very good advice, though you might want to use a right on Tennyson and then a left on Whittier to cut out those downtown lights. You could also take Great Falls Street over into Falls Church, then left on Fairfax Drive which turns into Washington Boulevard once you cross Lee Highway. That will take you to the very same spot. One way or the other, you should be able to make the trip in 30 minutes-ish quite consistently...

Old Dominion to Glebe is a good route. It should be less than 30 minuts easily.
