There was a recent article in the Post (can't find it now) that pretty much said -- no big impact. Most Trump folks are already here. And those that arrive will be looking at high-end, luxury condos downtown (CityCenter, etc). These people are well-heeled and have larger homes elsewhere. They aren't looking to settle down. Hope this helps! I'll post the article if I find it.

This thread reminds me of a classic anecdote from the Carter days that is so good one can only hope it's true.

Following the 1976 presidential election and as the new administration came to town, the Georgia mafia went house hunting. Georgetown was, as always, an attractive destination. Legend has it that one of Carter's incoming officials approached a local agent who dealt with Georgetown realty to express an interest in living there.

"How much are you willing to pay?" asked the realtor.

"Oh, about $50,000," came the reply.

"Sorry," the realtor told the newbie, "we don't handle rentals."

Obviously I'm no expert but I don't see a sudden, large reduction in the size of the federal force as something likely. More probably, if the Trump administration does decide to reduce government, it will be through hiring freezes and attrition, which won't have any impact on the real estate market in the region.
