Hey everyone,

I just moved to Northern Virginia about 2 weeks ago, and I am currently staying with a friend until I get on my feet, but only temporarily.

Could anyone suggest some newer apartments that they have lived in or heard great things about?

What's your budget? Where in Northern Virginia? Where do you commute to?

Nouvelle in Tysons is nice, but it's around $4000 a month for a nice 2 bedroom.

I am open to McLean, Reston, Ashburn, Herndon, Reston etc. Budget would be no more than $2000 a month for a 1 bed 1 bath.

Luxury apartments in this area are pretty much the same thing at that $2K price point - just a matter of what area you want to live in the most and how close to a metro.

Reston Town Center has several nice complexes (Avant, Cosmo) so does Tysons if you want to stay there (The Ascent on Broad St). For something on the "cheaper" side Camden Fairfax Corner is quite popular too.

I lived in Ovation at Park Crest in McLean. Loved it! Brand new and great, quiet neighborhood. Close to the Silver line made trips to DC easy. I paid around $2500 for my 1B/1B including parking, water, etc.

I am looking for at most $1300 a month. I know that is a stretch for this area, but does anyone have suggestions on something further out? Most apartments require 3 times month the rent amount to qualify, which is why I can't go higher.

Google "affordable dwelling units" along with county name and you should find apartments for what you want.

I just did a little searching and you really need about $1500/month for Reston.

Yeah that is what I found. I wonder if renting a basement is cheaper. Any areas people would recommend I avoid altogether?
