For someone who doesn't have a car, what's the quickest way to get from Annapolis to Fairfax on a regular basis?

I assume you are asking about commuting between Annapolis and Fairfax City during the weekdays. If that is the case, the commute would involve a Dillon's commuter bus from Annapolis to D.C., Metrorail from D.C. to the Vienna station, and the Fairfax CUE bus from the Vienna station into the city. Each trip would take at least 2 hours assuming no delays. I would not consider making this trip on a regular basis.

I'm asking about Sundays. I'd hypothetically make the trip once a week.

There are only two options I can think of, neither of which are ideal.

1) I'm fairly certain you can take a bus (limited service) from Annapolis to New Carrollton station on Sundays, then ride the Orange Line its entire length to Vienna before taking a CUE bus (again, limited service) into Fairfax.

2) Given the expense, time, and service reliability issues associated with the option above, it might make more sense to Uber or Lyft directly to your destination.

Rent a car. It's about an hour each way and you should get a great rate for a Sunday. If you are talking about up and back on same day and try to do it with public transportation it could easily be 4-6 hours IF everything is actually running.

This is a good suggestion. It probably wouldn't be much different in cost than taking the various methods of public transportation. And think of the time it would save!
