Hi Everyone. My husband recently got a job at the Pentagon and we will be relocating from Southern California. We are looking into moving to the Springfield area, more specifically the Cardinal Forest community. If anyone has any information about the area, including how safe the community is (my husband will probably be working long hours and I will more than likely spend a lot of time home alone) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

Use this link to search for crime reporting:

Crime in Fairfax County, VA

You can see local crime mapped out and reporting details. It works like google maps - you can zoom in and out and drag the mouse to move around.

Cardinal Forest is a safe and well-kept neighborhood. You should be comfortable there. Most neighborhoods in West Springfield are relatively safe. We rent a house in a nearby area and have been happy with the area. It's easy to get to the Fort Belvoir commissary/PX and Trader Joe's.

My husband rides the Metro bus to the Pentagon (he's in the air force). There are a couple of routes that run along Old Keene Mill Road.

Good luck with the move! I am originally from California (Santa Barbara).

This is true. West Springfield has good schools. Highly recommend Cardinal Forest. Other areas nearby are good too - look at Orange Hunt. 22152 and 22153 have good schools and the area is great because there are plenty of shopping options and you are also close to the metro station at Springfield Franconia. The bus to the Pentagon goes all through Cardinal Forest (I used to live there). Good luck - fabulous area!

I read your other post in which you mentioned a "joint base". I'm not sure where that is, but I sent you a direct message.

I used to live in that area and probably the worst that happened to me was my rims got stolen, but that was on me, I had fancy rims and I didn't use wheel locks, I guess I shouldn't have put out such a huge temptation out there
