I think its inevitable that Sears/Kmart will shut down completely within a few years. They're bleeding $, the store closings they've already undergone don't seem to be helping there bottom line any, and they've already sold off some of their most valuable brands like Craftsman.

Its probably been a year or two since I even went to a Sears store (Landmark Mall) but I still recall the impression it made on me - inside the store it was very warm, especially compared to other stores in the mall. Now maybe they were just having HVAC issues that particular day but I couldn't help thinking that they were deliberately keeping the temperature higher in an attempt to save scarce $.

I was in Sears at Fair Oaks a while back and while the Mall itself was busy, I think I could have counted the number of customers in the entire store on my hands and have fingers left over. Same thing at the mall in Fredericksburg.

So, back to the subject line, what really is going in above Sears at Fair Oaks? I had heard D & B had pulled out yet it’s obvious someone is working on something. Are they back to planning to go in there?

For years, in the summer months also noticed the Sears store in Fair Oaks Mall as very warm, while the rest of the mall was comfortable. Interesting pattern here.

I have not been to Sears at Fair Oaks Mall since it has gone to one level.

It seems to be doing just fine. Last month I was there on a weekday and there were quite a few people in the stores.

Sears was starting to circle the drain long before Amazon came along. It's just been a long painful drawn out process.

For yrs. - the only thing I liked Sears for was appliances and tools, etc., but they shot themselves in the foot (feet?). I don't blame Amazon at all - I blame Sears.

Whoever is to blame, Sears, like Toys R Us, is an American institution - it will be a sad day if and when it does go under
