$2 plus the $5 fare each way gets close to the garage fees in DC. I’ll drive if the cost is similar.

I just looked at one way fares for Fairfax Connector buses since I live near a bus stop where I could get a bus to the Wiehle station. The one way fare is $2. So $4 round trip. It will cost $2 to park the car at Wiehle on Saturdays. Much as I think this move to charge to park on Saturdays is wrong, it still would be cheaper for me to take the car to the Metro station.

FCDOT seems to say that the facilities are NOT full on Saturdays, yet WMATA claims this will help utilization. Data would be nice - if the facilities do NOT fill, as the County says, then charging is not a good thing from the transportation POV (and maybe not even from the revenue POV)

Personally I have parked there on a Saturday only once, I think, since I don't live in the area.

Besides Reston, other metro stations will also start charging for parking on Saturdays, starting Feb 5. This includes Vienna, Falls Church. Complete list can be found here:

They should start fixing their horrible service but that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.
