Hi,

Since others have been "waxing poetic" on the Chesapeake Bay Seafood Restaurant thread, I thought that I would mention Blue Ridge Seafood Restaurant. Best fresh/grilled fish/seafood, Southern style fried catfish, hushpuppies, gator, and many other fresh seafood/fish dishes.

Great sweet tea, Chesapeake crabs (hard and soft-shell), snow crab legs, homemade desserts, homemade hush puppies, fries, and other sides that are so good!

Below is website--

www.blueridgeseafood.com (Blue Ridge Seafood's site/info.)

You have to go early on the Fridays-Sundays if you are dining for dinner. They are also open for lunch. See hours/days of operation. We go there sometimes Sunday after church since we live on the borders of Prince William County, Fauquier County, and Loudoun Counties with our farm.

Enjoy!

It's okay but it's no Chesapeake. But glad you like it.

Thanks for posting Menmom. I tried Blue Ridge Seafood a couple times when passing through Gainesville. I agree with Bigfoot. BRS is okay but it's no Chesapeake Bay Seafood.

For those closer in to the beltway, Captain Pell's is a crabhouse in Fairfax (city) that is very similar to BRS.

There is also Ernie's Crab House in Alexandria close to the metro. I went a couple months after it opened and was deeply disappointed with both the quality of the food and the service. It's not like I demand anything fancy for quality and service in a crab house either - steam em, spice em, dump em on the table and haul away the leftover carcass bits when the customer is ready. I was so disappointed I never went back. Judging by the online reviews, I don't think it ever improved.

I've been here a few times with business friends for dinner and drinks and it has been "Meh" - at best.

I went last year and was less than impressed. They were out of crabs by 4 PM on a Sunday.

Been to BRS many times and had a good experience every time. Usually had shrimp and was cooked properly. Many times I would get a dozen steamed crabs and take them home. Always thought they did a good job on them as well. But we moved a few years ago and I found a guy that sells steamed crabs out of his trailer. A dozen (12-14) medium crabs are $ 20. Skeptical at first, but he does a good job as well. Now I can afford to eat crabs a couple times a month instead of a couple times a year.
