Hello, this is my first post here.
Got a speeding ticket hours ago, and have no clue what to do about it. I have clean drive record.
The police officer wrote a 65/55 mph speeding ticket to me. I was on the Loudoun County PKW to the Route 606.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

For anything not reckless, I'd just pay the ticket and move on.

There's really nothing to be done. If you were speeding, just pay the ticket and move on. Depending on your insurance, your insurance *may* increase. My family members over the years have gotten tickets sporadically. I've never noticed a significant increase in my rates. I think they are impacted, for sure, but it's nothing to lose sleep over. Now, if you do it again and again, that's another matter.

1- just pay for it. There should be a website for you to pay.
2- your insurance premium will increase. Your insurance company will send you a letter in the next couple months about this and when premium changes.
3- move on.

Were you going faster and the officer wrote it for less? Just curious as 10 over doesn't happen very often. That said. Many insurance companies forgive a first ticket and maybe yours will as well.

what kind of excuse did you give and did the police officer acknowledge your excuse in any way?

My wife got a speeding ticket last year on route 15 doing 55 mph on a 35 speed limit. She had a perfect record.
The officer ran her License and saw that she had a perfect record so he reduced it to 54 mph so she wouldn't
get a reckless charge on her record. I called a traffic lawyer from Loudoun county and she told me just pay
the fine because you aren't getting off. So we paid it and moved on, lesson learned, don't speed.
