Hello,

I'm currently in the midst of looking for tech companies or any entity that's offering legitimate entry-level positions for someone who just recently graduated in IT.

I made the mistake thinking the lowest grade Cybersecurity job was something I could obtain with nearly zero professional experience but it doesn't seem like those are entry-level.

To make matters worse, I just paid for and passed an incredibly expensive certification that dealt with Cybersecurity, which was my focus in university.

Anyway, to make a story short, it doesn't look like I'm going to find anything Security-related for someone of my experience or background (only one internship under my belt), much less networking/telecom, etc.

Does anyone know of a company that's offering entry-level tech jobs around the area?

I know beggars can't be choosers, but ideally, I'd like to be able find a job somewhere in the Chantily/Centerville area but I get the feeling most of these tech jobs are up north (i.e. Arlington, Mclean, Herdon).

Any tips or recommendations from pros or recruiters in the area is highly appreciated.

TIA

Have you tried Micron? Not sure what they have in your field but I just read where it will be growing, a lot, pretty soon.

If you went to college you can enter many of the large firms by contacting your school's career services department and attending college job fairs. Additionally, job boards often have trainee positions specifically built for recent college grads (e.g. Capital One or government contractors).

If you do not have a college degree work with a recruiter. You can quickly search one in the area from LinkedIn. Also, you can look for jobs requiring 1-2 years experience and just apply. Any job search board can be filtered to the Northern Virginia area. I recommend following up on LinkedIn and reaching out to the recruiters and HR hiring teams on LinkedIn. They are the most active users on that platform.

I know Fannie Mae offers a specific program for undergraduates. I believe it goes for 2 years and you'll be working in several departments, including cyber security space, to learn more about the company and also identify which area you want to purusue your career.
They do have a location in Reston which wouldn't be too far as well.
