Hello --

We have started to look for a house (well, townhome) in Reston/Herndon/Centreville area. Can anyone recommend a good real estate agent who knows these areas well? We have contacted one, but she seems to be kind of pushy, trying to show us expansive houses from the start...Thank you!

I found this guy to be good. He knows that area very well. Lives in Herndon. He is not associated with big firms like Long and Foster. His has his own small firm which he probably operates from home. We did not find him pushy nor he did not try to go with any of his mortgage brokers. Most of the real estate agents really force to go through their mortgage brokers. He told us clearly to shop for mortgage on your own and then compare with his brokers and choose the best one.

Name: Ramdas Singh

He speaks and understands English very well but has thick accent as he is of Asian Indian origin. If you are ok with it he is really good.

We just bought our first home with an agent referred by my co-worker. He's been in this area for over 40 years and was very knowledgeable. Instead of being pushy, he always tried to point out potential problems with the house.

If you need his contact info, please let me know and I will DM you

We found our agent while browsing some real estate site. He turned out to be the best! Unlike your agent, my agent recommended that I buy a house that fits my needs instead of a bigger one even if I could afford it.

Besides helping us find a house, he was also very present and participative in the design center appointments, home walk-throughs and inspections.

I will direct message his name and web site to you.

Thanks

I would recommend that you wait and rent a place for the next year or two. Prices are down greater than 10% since last year in this area and there is no bottom in sight.
