My husband and I will be moving to Manassas with our toddler in the summer. My husband works in Tysons Corner, I would like to work closer to home as my son will be going to a daycare in Manassas. Where would be a good location to work, so far my husband and I have mapped out Chantilly, Vienna and Centreville. Any thoughts on the best place to work, a job in Manassas would have been perfect but it doesn’t seem to have too many jobs in the marketing space. Plan to work 8-5 or 8-4:30pm. Thanks!

Have you looked into Micron or Lockheed? I know Micron was getting ready to add a lot of jobs. Your commute to those areas you've listed will be tough from Manassas, especially at those hours. Centreville will be the easiest drive, so to speak, with Tysons the worst. What kind of work are you looking for?

hmm...unless you are looking for a minimum wage type of job, I would search for a position based on interest, skill set and organization. Location of the job should really only come into play when you have an offer in hand.

Why limit your search?

I haven’t looked into Micron or Lockheed but I will definitely do. I actually saw some jobs in Centreville and think that would be the best location for me traffic / commute wise. Thanks!

I’m not looking for a minimum wage job so you are right, I don’t want to limit myself and will be open to more locations. In saying that, my main goal is keeping my commute to an hour or less from Manassas.

Understand, but get the job first. Then determine commute tolerances and see what you can negotiate on schedule and remote working.
