I will hopefully be moving to the area in about a year, and I would love a fairly short commute to where I will be working (Quantico). What are some rural areas and towns near Quantico that would have affordable rent? I am used to country living and I don't really want to live in a townhome or in an urban area. My budget is going to be $1000-$1500 a month for tent, and I don't have any specifications on amount of bedrooms or anything, as I will be living solo!

Any advice is welcome too! I'm completely new to the area, and have driven through before, but know next to nothing!

sections of stafford and fredericksburg still have that rural feel, but not sure how short a commute you'd get with the latter

Maybe something in along rt. 619 in the Brentsville area, or in Nokesville (off rt. 28)?
I'm not sure how often things come up for rent in these areas, but currently there is a 2 bedroom single family house in Nokesville for rent for $1550/month

What's your definition of a fairly short commute?

Spotsylvania County is rural but that might be too far of a commute for you. Caroline County is definitely rural but is probably too far out. But those are the areas where you're more likely to find a single family home for less than $1500.

Thanks guys! To answer @Hokiefan's question, anything up to an hour to an hour and 30 mins is good. I currently have a 45 minute commute and I like the down time it gives me on my way back home from work.

Most long commutes around here don't equate to relaxing down-time. They are stressful times that cause high blood pressure.
