Looking for recommendations on where to live. My husband will be working in DC. Son was accelerated a grade in Math in NC so a good Elementary school and Middle school are very important. I would like a newer 2 Bed townhome under $500K (can go higher but we are in our late 40s and early 50s with a young child so don’t want to overspend). I would appreciate any help in narrowing down locations with good schools that will not involve a crazy commute for my husband. Thank you for any advice!

First you have to tell us what you consider a crazy commute. Commutes around here are crazy especially if you are looking for “newer” homes in your price range. Also, what is “newer” to you?

Do you know the exact address of your husband's future worksite? As that would determine exactly which subway line or freeway exit it's convenient to. Because the DC metro area has among the worst traffic congestion in the entire nation, a detail like that could make a lot of difference. I assume it's somewhere in the central downtown?
