We are traveling from DC to Asheville and wanted to ask about the elevation grades taking 66 to 81 to 26 into Asheville. We will have a large Uhaul trailer with our Suburban and wanted to take the route that was pretty, yet easiest on the Suburban. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Every vehicle known to mankind drives on our roads so a Suburban pulling a U haul will be fine. If you want scenic, meaning much slower, take Skyline Dr to Blue Ridge Parkway. Or get back on 81 at Afton (64 to 81) and get back on the BRP around Roanoke. BRP from 64 is not nearly as nice as further south.

I just went from NOVA to FL pulling a 12ft Uhaul trailer with a minivan. With a suburban you should barely notice the trailer.

I'm assuming you stuck to 95, and didn't head into the mountains; which was what the OP is doing.
