Hi- I'm daytripping from Philly to Fairfax on Friday. I will use Craigslist to find and see Fairfax rentals. We are a boring 1 car suburban family with small tots alseep by 10 pm, looking for a quiet neighborhood in walking distance to the Metro. Could you tell me what neighborhoods I should avoid and which ones I should look into? I'll concentrate my Craigslist search on those good 'hoods. Thanks so much!-leighland

just be on the lookout for Honda Civics with modified exhausts. Try to stay away from neighborhoods that have mixed single-family homes , and condos. If you see vans with ladders stacked up on top, probly not a good place to live.

What's your price range and where will you be commuting to (might make a difference on which Metro line you should look at)?

You might want to look around Arlington

1700 might get you a two bedroom place.
