Today someone in Manassas tried to pry the fuel door open in my car. I have a honda where the fuel door must be opened from the inside. Looks like they used a screwdriver because it's all scraped up on the side. Luckily no noticable amount of gas was taken. My friend said there is a fuel cap that I can buy at the autoparts store that uses a key to open.

A55' HOles Right?!

I don't think we've seen anything yet....wait 'til oil hits $200 a barrel ($6-7 a gallon gas)

They've sold locking gas caps for years, but during the last gas "shortage", enterprising gas thieves just used an ice pick to poke a hole in your gas tank and drain your gas. I'd rather they siphon it out and not damage the car.

I don't like those gas doors that you have to open from the inside....they'll either pry it open damaging the body, or smash a window.

I used to drive convertibles and I always left the doors unlocked (and nothing of value in the car). Anything to keep them from slicing the top!

But I suppose a locking gas cap might deter some thieves if there's an easier mark nearby....so it's like life, a gamble!

"thieves"

I'm glad I have a garage. But I guess that won't help in a parking lot at a store.

i know. If someone wants $20 for gas, I would gladly give it to them. This kind of petty crime is annoying

Oh, I remember the 70's - no fun sitting in those gas lines and all those idiots trying to syphon gas from our tanks! But we got through that, and we'll get through this too

Hang in there!

could be.

I have seen more moped and scooters on the road lately.

People who used to ride bikes, have now switched over to scooters.
