wondering if aur pairs will be much more fashionable in the future. Will there be a market for covid sitters (tested and in self isolation for high $$$ baby sitting jobs)... oh what the future holds...
Well we had a normal high school sitter but with school shut down and her about to graduate, the whole family just moved out of state, so our normal go-to is clearly no longer an option. We always go with people we know (I’ve had awful luck off Care), so we will have to be patient. It’s not like there is anywhere to go out to right now anyway. Our weekly date night is on pause for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if having a positive antibody test will be highly marketable for both house cleaners and kid-watchers. I pity the person trying to find a nanny or daycare right now. As far as au pairs, can they even get in the country? I had thought borders were closed. Has that changed without me noticing?

For those interested in current daycare/nanny care opportunities, try joining www.nextdoor.com. Parents and potential caregivers are exchanging information there on hyper-local child care needs and opportunities.

Someone I know is expecting one to come in July, but the embassies are closed, so she cannot do the visa interview.

I tried it once and thought it so so at best.
I'd honestly be fine if they died off. Was never a fan of that style of restaurant.

Borders are still closed... lol. That has to be a mind blowing thought for those that are here. My neighbor has one. I think that antibody test might be the go to indeed.

Side note.. the house cleaners confuse me too.. ihave neighbors still letting them in.... daycare is a double edge... we have the first right of refusal for all our previous child care options... and they will be in high demand as places open back up and force people to come to work.

Not really feeling the idea of sending the kids back to the petri dish. Literally the first week school closed we put them in daycare and they all got sick immediately. ... antibody tests could be the key to freedom but exposure to it??

I was talking to a friend who was expecting an au pair in July. They can’t come in not only because the borders are closed but because the various embassies and consulates are also closed and not doing interviews for visas. Another acquaintance has one who was meant to go back June 1st when her contract expired but is stuck here until who-knows-when.
