Hi everyone,

As the title states looking for stuff to do in the area. Here is a little about me/my family. We are purchasing a townhome near the Sonnie Penn Elementary school.

1. Family of three 2 year old boy, 7 year old boy and my considerate other (Female ).
2. I am not a big outdoors kind of guy but I wouldn't mind doing things with my two little guys.
3. Military family arriving in Feb 2021 timeframe.
4. I am big time runner and interested in running trails in the surrounding area with my two little guys.
5. I have never lived in VA but my lady lived in Arlington and JBAB a couple of years ago.

Thank you in advance guys.
Cheers.

Lake Ridge Marina used to have paddle boats but no idea now since I moved away. Tackett's Mill has a small lake that used to be fun to take the kids to and walk around. I assume it is still an option. I was allergic to running so can't help you there.

Prince William Forest national park has lots of great trails. There is a fee to enter but since you are military, you can get a free pass (that will get you into all the national parks!)https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/pa...P_JUMP_5088576
They have various picnic areas in the park, and camping too.

For running, this may be too far for you but The Running Store in Gainesville (West end of the county) has a running group (adults) that meets up every Saturday morning on the Manassas Battlefields. If you go to the Running Store's facebook page they usually post details on Fridays.

Little bit of a drive but there are quite a few trails in and around the old prison in Lorton.

Not as scenic but a lot of people just walk/run along the part of PWC parkway right outside your neighborhood, paved path leads all the way towards manassas.

Occoquan has its water front, not really a running set up but nice to walk around/shop.

Little bit of drive but PWC forest park has a lot of trails. I think it's still technically closed for COVID but people park at the food lion parking lot and walk across 234 and enter. Just don't park along 234 like a lot of people are doing as I saw tickets being given over the weekend

i no longer live there.... but i can say they finished the neabsco creek boardwalk thing which is good for running. (its a drive from where you are coming from but you can park and do it.. )

Check strava for the running trails close by.... i believe there is a long one parallel to 234..

Most of the entertainment consisted of the Beer Spot off 234 (2 silos)
Shopping, eating, outdoor and indoor movies at potomac mills and stonebridge shopping center..
Also the occquaquon(splcheck)..

Ignoring the pandemic there are water parks... and sports leagues galore.

most things you will have to drive to access
