After giving it some thought, I decided to vote at my polling place in Fairfax County on Election Day. I can walk to it, and given the long lines at the nearby government center location over the past couple of weeks, I suspect the lines next Tuesday will be relatively short. We'll see.

One way or another, I'll vote!

Our family voted at two places: the DMV in Prince William (lines but only took 20 minutes) and then at the Ferlazzo center (county government center). There was no line there on the second day of early voting (last week). Took all of 10 minutes from exiting car to getting back in. Amazing. It could be that Prince William has more voting locations per capita than Fairfax does. Some of those lines being shown in Fairfax County look quite daunting.

Well...thanks to all who responded to this thread.

We went to the Herndon Library around 3:30 p.m. today. Once there, we were pleasantly surprised that we easily found a parking spot in the municipal lot. Driving to the parking lot, we noticed the line to vote. It wasn't short but it wasn't obscenely long either. So...we got in line and it moved very well. From start (parking the car) to finish, it took about 45 minutes. The election workers had it all down to a science. Gave her the appropriate ID, she entered it then told me to go to another table and to ask for a District 11 ballot. Once I filled it out, I noticed that the machine that took the ballot was different since the last time I voted. When the ballot was taken, the lady sitting by the machine made me wait until the screen said my ballot was accepted.

So...we're glad we were able to vote without enduring a huge line.

I voted at the ferlazzo building around 2pm today. There were others voting including at the curbside, but no line at all voting inside. Everything was well organized and the whole process took maybe 5 minutes.

A few weeks ago I tried the DMV at caton hill and from the parking lot the line was nuts so I decided to come back another time.

We voted at the Providence Comm Center location. 1 hr waiting time. Walked by a couple times later after and lines were shorter-- maybe 30 min or so.

Default Used the drop box - no waiting.

We requested mail in ballots less than 30 minutes before the deadline at 5 pm Oct 23rd. We had planned to vote in person at the Jefferson Library satellite location in FC; however, when we passed by in the early afternoon, there was a long line and it was 80 degrees. The ballots arrived this past Wed. and we dropped them off yesterday at the drop box at the same library. It took longer to park and exit than to drop off the ballots. I'm so glad I chose this method as the lines were long on the days I drove by the two locations in our precinct.
