hello
We currently reside in MA, and in the plans of relocating to Vienna,VA as my spouse's job location in posted in the same. I'm basically from Chennai and looking for a Indian community apartment in and around Vienna. We have a toddler of 2 years old, so any apartments that are ROACHES FREE and safe are being my top priority.
any leads would be appreciated. Thank you.

It's a pricey part of a pricey region..What is the radius you need to be from Vienna and your budget.

10 or 11 miles would be sensible and the budget is 1700 without utilities as I got to know from the research that all the apartments over there are quiet pricey. A safe and roaches free apartment is what we look for, in the above said radius.

You will need a 2 bedroom apartment and your budget is rather low for the Vienna area.

You could get an apartment in Reston for about $200 over your budget:

No guarantees regarding it being pest-free.

As others said, your budget is low for the requirements you mentioned. Guaranteed roach free is very difficult to do in an apartment. You need to relax some of your requirements for size, cost and distance. Consider renting a small house from a private landlord. Roach treatments are more effective if the insects are not constantly invading from shared wall apartments and townhouses.

There are a number of Indian communities in Northern Virginia. Most can be discovered and contacted online. Ask there as well as in the City Data forum. Sometimes private individuals prefer to rent to someone from their own ethnic background and will thus give you a better price. Technically. this is illegal under our Fair Housing Act, but is unlikely to be prosecuted in minority communities.

Herndon in the 20171 area code may work too. It has a high Indian population, and the apartments are not horrible. It would be at the limit of your 10 mile requirement but likely more affordable than Reston.

I would look at the area around McNair Farms and the Clocktower Shopping Center. On a map, you would look for Centreville Road and Sunrise Valley Drive intersection in Herndon. There are a lot of apartments there with mostly Indian population. There are four Asian supermarkets nearby belonging to the Lotte and H Mart chains. $ 1700 is going to be difficult.

I think that at that price range you would be looking in Centreville, Va which has a large Asian and Hispanic population.

OP --- My suggestion is that you drop the requirement you have of living in an Indian community because it would open up more options for you.

This is a diverse country with literally people here from every country in the world. It's best to allow yourself and your family to get to know different people as you will be coming across all sorts of people during your everyday life.

If you want to meet other Indians, do an internet search. There are all sorts of groups out there where Indian people can meet other Indians in the area.

There are a lot of options if you move father west since Indian population is large here as it's heavily represented in IT and financial services. Ashburn, Brambleton, South Riding, Sterling, and others. These are two facebook groups for Indian community to network.

We see the same thing with Vietnamese, Korean, and other SE Asian communities tend to be clustered in places such as Clarendon, Fairfax/Chantilly, and Annandale.
