I have accepted a job in Sterling, VA. I want to live in the Rosslyn area of Arlington. I realize that this could be a long commute with traffic. How long will the commute typically be in the morning at 7:30 am and in the evening at 5:30 pm?

My thoughts 70 to 90 minutes each way if you drive.

Yes, I would be driving. I would plan on taking the 267 toll road each way. Would leaving earlier of later shorten the commute?

After you get off the toll road, are you planning on using I-66? If so, be prepared for the rush hour tolls

I don’t think it would take 70-90 minutes if going westbound in the morning, and eastbound in the evening. I would say 45 to 70 minutes in the morning, and go 60 to 90 in the evening. The evening is worse than the morning for this commute. The worst part is having to travel back roads through the inside the Beltway, or take the GW Parkway, which can have heavy traffic both ways during your commute times. Avoid using the Beltway to get to the Parkway in the PM hours.

Toll is only in the peak direction so inbound to DC in the AM and outbound in PM. A 'reverse' commute to Sterling wouldn't require a toll until the Dulles Toll Road.

I'd say about an hour in the morning and 75-90 mins in the evenings- they are always worse.

A friend did Countryside..Courthouse for years..He went in after rush hour...Moderately bad, and a lot of wear and tear on the car.

Well, that's the exact opposite commute than what the OP was asking about. Big difference from travelling towards DC in the morning than travelling away from DC in the morning.

Is the toll $8.00 each way? Does it go up again 1 jan?
