Only one that comes to top of mind is Bill Kelly, chief meteorologist for WJLA7. Concerned for others, barbeques around in area in back yards, especially pre pandemic, and provided best reporting possible during tornadoes concerned for others safety.

Depending on your point of view, traditional or progressive, not sure how much can trust the others giving the news. Maybe one or more of the sportscasters, but self not that much into sports.

Why do you keep trying to stir up trouble here? Take this to the P&OC forum. Yeah, yeah, we in NoVa need to be aware. This isn’t the space.

This is more relevant to Northern Virginia and really want to keep the discussion limited to that for this thread. I do not care about TV news reporting in other cities and regions of the US. Just innocently asking a question about Northern Virginia. Hoping we can keep this only positive with more examples like Bill Kelly. At least for the news, someone who reports the local news itrens from credible sources, that is helpful to a large segment of the population and not sticking their personal views into it. Like for example, the USPS postage stamp increase last summer, thankful for learning about that beforehand, happened to come across on the internet instead. Maybe I missed the 30 seconds of local TV news reporting on it. Not one myself, but concerned and feel for especially the elderly only TV connected, maybe anyone here a caregiver for one of them.

Between 5PM and 7PM, I flip between NBC and ABC. For weather, I do prefer Bill Kelly over Doug Kammerer. As for the rest of the news, they pretty much both have the same stories every night, almost word for word. Sometimes repeated over a series of days. I don't find either network to have a slant to the news or inserting their opinion. Occasionally, an anchor might raise an eyebrow, but those were the older, more seasoned anchors such as Jim Vance and more recently retired Wendy Rieger on Channel 4.

With all that said, I'm not one for being "entertained" by my evening local news, although other people obviously love it. Totally not interested in Bill Kelly's barbeques or cooking.

I haven't really watched the local news since I moved here several years ago. I can get the real news from elsewhere and when it comes to local stuff I only care about what happens in my specific area which I can find out via local blogs/websites focused on the area. I feel no urge to sit through 20 minutes of Maryland and D.C. news to catch one small item of relevance to me.

Who is the weekday midday news anchor on WJLA News Channel 8 Virginia segment? He is an older man, tries not to show his bias, just lets the TV watchers make their own decisions from information provided from as close to 1st hand sources as possible.

I haven't watched anyone deliver "news" in about 10 years. I get all of my information by reading it online.
, although it is getting harder and harder to find facts and data amongst all of the analysis and opinion articles.

For years I have recommended NewsPrism Home. Except, very recently, as it is now plastered over with Pay Me More ads for useless promotional sites. Still, if you are willing to ignore that, it is still worth digging around in the garbage to find useful news sites for the left/right/middle.

Just figured it out - https://wjla.com/station/people/dave-lucas . He has been with the station since 1991.
