I'm relocating and want to know the commuting buses/rail and timing to Vienna or McLean or Reston or DC from Woodbridge, Va.

I apologize in advance with the loaded question to anyone that responds.
Moving from NY, real estate and rental awful and can't afford to stay here.

If I'm not mistaken, there's really only 2 options from Woodbridge.

Omniride buses: OmniRide

VRE trains: Virginia Railway Express Home Page

Oh wait, there used to be some pretty well organized Van Pools from down there too......

Hopefully your daily route will be to DC. Once you get off OmniRide or VRE as suggested, the required transfer to take the Orange Metro Line out to Vienna would be onerous enough, let alone the bus routes required to get to Reston and McLean.

Yes. When I moved to this area, I thought that a commutte to Alexandria would be an easier commutte than to D.C. (I currently live in Lake Ridge zip code 22192). However, going to D.C. via commuter rail..vre or commuter bus is even easier. Good luck with your move!

Lake Ridge is Woodbridge. 22192 is a Woodbridge zip code.

DC is your best bet, it's long but it's easy.

McLean (no metro/train acess) would be a royal pain and long as well as Vienna. And REston would be just downright aweful!

west springfield would be a much better location to look at if those are all your potential work locations.

The commute totally sucks. There are no immediate connections to bus. I'm so spoiled by NYC Transit System. This is aweful. It takes me almost 2 hrs in commute time. It is so not worth it at all.
How does the Metro system charge going in adn then going out? NYC system you pay $2.00 and ride all day on teh same $2.00 with a transfer to a bus w/in 2hrs.
Why did I ever think it would be better than NYC system? Nothing beats NYC Subway system.
