Not sure where to look in Ballston Metro surroundings(apartments, rentals)
================================================== ================

Thanks for replies to my threads.

One of my friends son just got a job near Ballston-MU Metro - Arlinton VA, I want to help make suggestions for places he can look for an apartment. 1 BR/studio/Rent share options.

He is young adult, not long out of college so he is just getting started more or less.

He has a very good income (low 70K range), but starting out/over, He will need to build savings, buy furniture, etc so he needs to keep his budget under control.

He is not a party type and is more interested in a quiet coffee shop, library or bookstore than a bar or dance club.

He does not have a car yet.

Any suggestions on where she should look?

thanks for your guidance.

I don't know why anyone would suggest DC given the crime issues these days. So...to answer your question, OP, here are some apartment buildings in the Ballston/Virginia Square area:

The View Ballston, 4000 Wilson Blvd.
https://www.theviewapartments.com/

UrbA
624 N. Glebe Rd.
https://liveurba.com/

J Sol Apartments
4000 Fairfax Dr.
https://j-solapartments.com/

Richmond Square
800 N. Randolph St.
https://www.rentrsq.com/

Randolph Towers
4001 9th St.
https://www.rentrsq.com/

Quincy Plaza
3900 N. Fairfax Dr.
https://www.rentqp.com

---------------------------------------
Since you didn't say how much your friend wants to pay for rent, it's hard to say if any of these apartments are in his price range. If he needs something cheaper, let us know what price range he wants.

Thanks for weighing in and sharing url.

Some looks ok. Rent less than 2K (including other fees) looks OK.

How did you find these listings ?

I see Arlington listed as safe neighborhood , but crimespot site shows some concerns for the addresses .

How do we evaluate safe neighborhood?

Thanks for your guidance.

You're welcome. I did a google search. Apartments in the Ballston/Virginia Square area Arlington, VA.

Ballston is by and large a safe area. I have walked there alone in the evening and never had any problems. Virginia Square, which is nearby, is also by and large a safe area.

If something cheaper than the places I listed is what is wanted, take a look at this one:

https://www.apartments.com/buckingha...on-va/zgtq89w/

It's not exactly in Ballston but it is walkable by going up Glebe Road. These are older garden apartments which don't have the amenities that the other buildings I listed have. Quite a few years back (1980) we moved to Arlington and Buckingham was where we found an apartment. So, to be honest, I don't know what the place is like today. What I do know is when we moved out after a year, our building was going condo. So even if we had wanted to stay and renew the lease, we had to leave. Some parts of it, if I recall correctly, have become low income apartments while the others are market rate ones.

Another vote for Virginia Square or Ballston itself. I’d throw in East Falls Church if they area more a homebody type. But definitely do roommates. I was lucky enough to find a Master Bedroom with private a couple of streets West of the Ballston metro and lived there from 2016-2020. I was making considerably less than 70k when I got in that house.
