I have to pick someone up tomorrow from Dulles (I'm coming from Falls Church). I know that if I hop on the Dulles Toll Road from 495 to go to the airport, it's free... is it free on the way back too??

Yep, except you will technically be using the Airport Access Road which is a highway located in the median of the Dulles Toll Road. As long as you are engaging in "airport business" you will be fine. A lot of commuters from the far out exurbs cheat and use the Access Road to bypass tolls and awful inbound traffic on the toll road. The cops are fully aware of this so make sure you keep a boarding pass or some sort of proof that you were at the airport in case you get pulled over.

One word of caution, DO NOT SPEED, when it says 55 do no more than 60. I am in the consulting business and have to use that road frequently on client sites, the cops on that road will drill you no matter what. Pay careful attention to the underpasses.

haha - I was going to say that too. Don't speed whatever you do. The cops hang out there all the time and catch speeders.

The reason the Toll Road and Access Road are so heavily policed is that they are notorious for speeding. At like 90+ and 100+ mph. I wish they'd bust a few more of these clowns...all they do is put other drivers in danger...
