I'm looking at buying a house very close to the Reston Zoo. The house West-South-West of the zoo, but I'm not sure if I can expect nice waif's of goats and other animals on a nice, hot August day.

Does anyone know what to expect living close to the zoo. It doesn't seem to be a big zoo and winds tend to go from West to East, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks, in advance.

Reston Zoo: A wild animal park in the heart of Fairfax County

Sorry I can't be much help - but you probably answered your own question. Winds tend to go from West to East. My recommendation would be to knock on a few of your potential neighbors' doors and ask them.

HA HA HA!!!

Yes, there's a zoo in Reston. It's a small zoo, but a zoo nontheless. Its at the corner of Hunter Mill and Baron Cameron.

Default Not sure if much help

We live a mile or so from the zoo, looked at some homes around the zoo this summer. I can't imagine you will have any issues, unless you live in one of the homes backing to the zoo. Not a big fan of the zoo, but it isn't all that smelly even when on the property.

Good luck

You "stole" my comment. My thought exactly.

I was at the Zoo yesterday. I couldn't smell anything bad, except in the building where you feed the goats and sheep. If you walk ten feet away, the smell was gone. I did notice that there were a ton of ducks and geese on the property. I wonder if they would be loud early in the morning.

Hi- we went there with my DD's preschool twice already- I think the noise factor would be the worst- they have tractor rides and the animals are- well, animals.. I was looking at the houses and wondered also if the owners could smell anything.. I would think the tractor noise is mostly during the day- but that is weekends too.. hope this helps.
