It was suggested that I post this in this forum rather than the general Virginia forum:

Hey all,

I am a single 23yo man from the Denver/Boulder area of Colorado, and may be moving for a job in Springfield, VA.

So I have been looking at apartments around that area, I am willing to spend around $1000 to $1800 on a one to two bedroom apartment (obviously cheaper is preferred).

I would really only want up to a 30 minute commute, however I also want to be somewhat near a metro as I plan on exploring the museums and such.

I would love to be close to a park as I like to bicycle and hope to get a dog soon.

Safety is most important to me and I have been looking in the Alexandria/Arlington area is this a good area or should I be looking elsewhere?

Also if anyone knows of any good Christ following churches in the area (I have a baptist upbringing) I would greatly appreciate the reference.

Thanks,
- Legit

Welcome! I suggest you look at the Archstone apartments at Springfield Mall which is just a few minutes walking distance to the Franconia-Springfield Metro. (Avoid the other apartment complexes in 22150.) Also apartments in Manchester Lakes (22310) and Kingstowne/Island Creek (22315). They may be out of your price range but affordable with a roommate, since they're mostly two-bedrooms. There are a huge number of churches in the area, from very large to small, so you'll have plenty to choose from.

Plus Juan on the Archstone suggestion near Franconia-Springfield. Car theft is bad around Springfield Mall though, so be advised. Not sure about within the complex itself though.

A few years ago my friend's Honda Civic Si got stolen from Springfield Mall Parking garage.

You would think that the neighborhood websites would tell you the names of the apartments, but maybe they don't. I assume there are some apartment rental websites? Anyone know? Plus on realtor.com or militarybyowner.com you may find owners who are renting out condos.

Check out craigslist many private condos, apartment complex rentals and realtors post rental listings also.
The Exchange at Van Dorn Metro is in a great area on Eisenhower Ave close to old town, Metro , Cameron Run Park and quick access to 395 and 495. We just leased our unit to a new tennant but every person that has rented here has loved the area and the complex . The Reserve Apartments are also close by . Good Luck.

Awesome! Thanks for the help, I did indeed find the apartment names in those neighborhoods after being a little more determined in my searching.

Thanks again for all the help, hopefully I will be able to find something soon!

You should check out Riverside Apartments on Route One in alexandria, VA. Well within your price range. There is 3 high rise apartments buildings. One just completely renovated. A free shuttle leaves every 20 minutes from in front of each building M-F and goes straight to the Metro which is within walking distance actually. It is a gated community, very safe. Lots of amenities. Check out their website. My daughter has lived there, and my niece just signed her lease last week. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Goodliven I'll keep that one in mind as well.

Also I was wondering if anyone knew about these apartments: Saratoga Square Signature apartments (Van Metre Apartments - signature rental communities in the Washington DC, Fairfax county, Arlington va, dc beltway and northern Virginia area for rent or lease.)
They look pretty nice to me and a little bit more reasonable. But I'm not sure so any input would be great.

Thanks.
