Hey Everyone,

I apologize for not putting this up earlier. I got distracted by something and just forgot.

So... who would be interested in starting an off-topic chat thread in this forum? I should say that compared to the closed thread that inspired this idea, most threads I've seen in other off-topic threads are more light-hearted. I think that would be the kind of vibe that would make an Off-Topic thread successful here as well.

Let us know your thoughts!

then maybe you can repost in that category my 'interesting' thread that you deleted cause it didn't 'fit in'.

It actually didn't fit in as it had no direct relevance to Northern Virginia. Those kind of conversations usually happen in the Other Topics thread. Instead of referring people there, I thought we should see if there's enough of a critical mass of people who would enjoy shooting the breeze with each other outside of the usual relocation subjects.

I personally don't see the need for it. Other topics of the nature posted by the PP fit well under "other topics" or "philosophy and religion." People outside of NoVa may want to ponder similar questions, IMHO.

I have no idea what what was deleted, but I'd be interested in a general chat thread - I happened to be talking to someone tonight and she mentioned how hard it is to "meet" folks. Maybe if we got into chatting about topics that might lead to a meet up, etc. I am interested in other topics but not necessarily as they apply across the country, etc. - let's see how this plays out.

Yeah, I think it wouldn't work, because people prefer to have 1 place to go for all NOVA-related threads, to keep things simple!

How about a whole sub-forum? I think just one thread is kind of restricting. I mean what if the current "topic" of that thread is not what you are interested? Can you just side-track the conversation to whatever you want to talk about? Is the thread an "anything goes" sort of thing (of course so long as it doesn't go against the TOS)?
