I live in DC and I am thinking about moving to Alexandria. I would like to know more about College Park neighborhood and Mc Arthur elementary schools. Is the neighborhood safe? Is it easy to commute to DC? Is Mc Arthur elementary school good? I will appreciate some information.

Safe neighborhood. I know someone who lives nearby in Quaker Hill and he seems to like it.

Just to let you know, there's some public housing off of Yale down near Duke St., but it's definitely not the typical "projects"-type housing that people think of when they think of public housing, and I've never heard of people having problems with the residents there.

I don't know anything about the schools though.

Douglas MacArthur Elementary School is one of the best performing schools in Alexandria's school system. If you use the state's SOL test scores as a basis of measurement, this school is equal to any of the highly regarded Fairfax County schools. This isn't too surprising considering this school's wealthy attendance zone.
