I love the people. I said originally they were a little rude but they are all so nice and understanding.

I love the traffic. Riding the brake is very fun and relaxing.

I'm sorry about all i said about illegals. So what if they dont speak english and commit crimes? They have every right to be here and they make Northern VA a better place to live.

I love the real estate. So what if if a SFH in Alexandria costs $500k? You get great services. Just look at our school system.

So what if the rest of Virginia dont like us? They's be lost without Northern Virginia.

Oh yeah one more thing....APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had to do it. Happy April Fools Day, Northern Virginia!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you, Alan!

I find the traffic to be so calming and drivers so considerate. I never have to worry about people not signaling around here or driving aggressively.

I also find that this community is extremely supportive of military families here! They appreciate the sacrifices we make, moving around the country, etc. and value our experiences in many diverse regions. They value us almost as much as the diplomats and business folks from Europe!

Fairfax County has so many services available here--libraries, parks, fire and police departments, roads, etc. These things are NOT available anywhere else in the United States! Because, of course, the midwest is full of narrow-minded, fat white people and the west coast is full of Hollywood/hippie liberals. No intelligent people live west (or north, or south) of northern Virginia.

Wow! A truly amazing place!

Thanks, Alan. From your posts, it seems like you and I have similar views.

AS much as I hate big gov't, I hate what NOVA has become even more. If our leaders had any brains, they'd disburse the federal agencies throughout the U.S. (one for each state) so that NOVA wouldn't be so expensive and overcrowded and the giant target that is placed on NOVA by our enemies would disappear. Texas could get Homeland Security. Massachussets would get EPA. Colorado: Dept of Energy; Michigan: Dept of Transportation, etc., etc. Jobs would also be spread more evenly throughout the country and there wouldn't be all this talk about cessession.

I imangine that by doing this, the local economy in this area would totally collapse! Be very careful what you wish for!

Even with modern technology there are serious logistical advantages to having the majority of primary government agencies in close proximity to one another. This is why the concept of a capital has not been abandoned in any country, as far as I know.

Plus, some people actually LIKE the fact that Washington, DC is the "seat of power" - and they like all of the cultural, urban, and cosmopolitan influences that comes with it. Not everyone longs for the "good old days."
