Hi all,

I have been living in Leesburg, VA for the last 8 years, and working in Alexandria (almost where the Landmark mall is)

As you guys may think I'm very tired of this long commuting every day (plus gas and tolls) and that's why I'm thinking in moving to this area and buying a townhouse.

I would like to ask you in what areas do you think I could start searching to buying a house here and not too expensive.
I know it's a very generic question, but at least it will give some some basic ideas where to start.

In Leesburg you can buy townhouses around $150,000 nowadays. Are there by any chance areas like that around Alexandria? Probably more expensive but just wondering...

Thanks a lot!

The prices have dropped but I don't think you'd find anything nearly that low - and if you did, I can't imagine you'd want to live in it. I'm surprised that Leesburg would have a decent condition townhouse for the cheap.

for $150k you'll probably have to settle for a so-so condo, not a TH. I would probably look right near Landmark to get the most bang for your buck.

I think the new* EOS 21 condos diagonally across from Landmark are starting at that much. If you're not set on a townhouse, that might be a good place to look. There might be short sales on existing condos there that are even less than 150k.

* The condos aren't really new- they're remodeled units that used to be apartments. The building is 40 years old.
