We are in the process of moving overseas, but will be back.

We have a single family house in Herndon area that we would like to rent.

Not a big house, just over 1600 sq ft, with garage, and nice back patio (fenced) and large front grassy yard area. Elementary school is two blocks away, high school is about 5 minutes away.

House is 5 minutes from 7100 & Rt. 7, and ~10 minutes to toll road and rt 28.

Has anyone rented a house of similar size recently or even location, and if so, how much would you pay?

Is $2700 + utilities a reasonable asking price?

That seems high to me, but I'm not familiar with the area. Have you looked on craigslist to try to find something comparable?

I'm renting a similar sized house in Springfield for $1900+utils (also walking distance to an elementary school and a short drive to the upper grades), but again, I'm not sure how the areas compare.

The number of bedrooms and bathrooms might make a difference. I'm not familiar enough with homes out there to make a educated guess about your question.

Be mindful, though, that if you're intending to stir any interest in your property here, real estate advertising isn't allowed on the forums.

You'll have to find some comparable properties to see if that's too high like the previous poster mentioned. If you'll be overseas and renting your house, will you have a property management company taking care of things? They'll be able to help you set your rent price.

In comparison, I have a house rented that's similar to your description. It's about 1600sq/ft with one car garage, 3 bds, 2.5 baths and a .24 acre lot. I have it rented out for $1600 a month + utilities. House is in 22191.

3 bedrooms, 2 full bath, 1 half bath.

Nope, not interested in that.

My friend rented a home in Ashburn that is about 2400sq ft, 4 beds, 3 and a half baths and I believe pays $2300 a month.

I can't give you a number as I don't know the specifics of your property, but I would suggest calling a realtor who handles rentals or a property management group that can help you. If you need a suggestion, let me know and I can send you some contacts or referrals.

Good luck. A move overseas sounds exciting!

That sounds high to me. Go to militarybyowner.com, realtor.com, and craigslist.com, and check the rentals in your zip code to help you determine what the typical rents are. Good luck!

I think that sounds high. I pay $2700+utilities for 4 beds + and office and 2 1/2 baths, unfinished basement. 2500sq.ft. House is remodeled and 2 minutes from GW Pkwy (a nice location)
