My fiance and I (and our ~35lb dog) need to find an affordable place to live near the City of Fairfax, where we work, by the end of April. Both of our incomes are extremely limited for this area, less than $50,000 put together. The problem is even 1 bedroom apartments in the immediate area start outside of our price.

I am running out of places to look, or sites to search. I've used homesdatabase.com, realtor, craigslist (and various sites that search craigslist in alternative ways), and mynewplace.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I meant rental wise. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Try Circle Towers. It's a high rise but does accept pets. They have a few 2 BR for 1200-ish, which will be a stretch but not impossible on your budget. It's just east of the traffic circle in Fairfax where 29 & 50 come together.

Also search on Jermantown Road and Oakton and Merrifield for more options.

I'd start looking in Centreville and then move out to Manassas. The traffic from Manassas into Fairfax is bad, but the price range will fit your budget better.

What is your price range? www.peoplewithpets.com is a good site to check if you have a dog.

Well that one is under contract anyway. But to answer an earlier questions.

$350/month mortgage
$258/month condo fee
$127/month taxes ($1519 annual)

So that's about $795/month total + gas and electric ("FEE INCL.ALL BUT ELEC and GAS.")
