My daughter and three of her friends (cute & responsible) are trying to find a rental house with a budget of $1,000 per person. They are new graduates and would like to live in a "young" area, close enough to walk to the metro on weekend nights. She has a car and works near Tysons. We have checked the usual sites but thought I would check with ya'll. I am so proud of her getting a job but her salary isn't going to go far. Thanks.

Well we don't know the genders or sexual orientations of these friends though. I know a straight dude probably wouldn't want to share a bedroom with me, and if I were straight a straight girl probably wouldn't want to share a bedroom with me (unless I was hot---sigh---a guy can dream!)

Well sometimes if you can't find what you want you have to sacrifice in either location or space. I shared a 1 br apartment w/ my roommate b/c it was the only option. If sharing a room is the only way to make it happen, that might have to be a reality for your daughter for awhile. I would think that 4 br in general are hard to come by, particularly in that area (I'm assuming you mean the western portion of the orange line ala clarendon & ballston)

LOL... it's not like that's a problem restricted to gay guys. As a straight guy I don't want to share a bedroom with another straight guy because I don't want to walk in on anything, or be locked out of my own room if something is going on in there. Most people grow out of sharing a bedroom after college.

Yeah I have to go wtih the others and say that everyone should have their own room. A four bedroom for $4K shouldn't be that hard to come by. Yeah I would never want to share a bedroom.

Look in Clarendon but no four friends shouldn't live in a three bedroom unless two of them are a couple. I mean shelter is the most important thing. So if they can't find something in Clarendon they might look further out and just try to look for the dream house while living in the just okay house.

Here's a couple from Craigslist (I used HousingMaps.com to search):

$2940 / 5br - 2 ba + den; 0.7 mile to East Falls Church Metro (Arlington North) (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/apa/1274296733.html - broken link)

$3500 / 5br - 3 ba; 2 blocks to East Falls Church Metro (Arlington North) (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/apa/1274315280.html - broken link)

You might want to look for rentals on MilitarybyOwner.com - Real Estate near U.S. Military Bases . You can search by zip code.
