Can anyone enlighten me on this program? I heard about it on HGTV and looked into it a bit but can anyone tell me in lamens terms what the deal is? I mean I know its an urban revitalization program but I am trying to figure out how one qualifies or where one qualifies and some of the specifics. Thanks.

Hope VI is a program developed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The object of the program was to improve the public housing stock in this country, moving it away from concentrations of poverty in high-rise urban slums. The improvements are made through grants of federal money to local governments to build better housing, particularly mixed income housing or public housing in mixed income neighborhoods.

Hope VI, isn't a program that individuals apply to. Rather, you seek rental assistance through state-administered programs. You may very well be able to get rental assistance for a complex built with Hope VI funding. If you've never received housing assistance, a good place to start getting acquainted with programs and requirements is the Virginia HUD page here: Rental Help:**Virginia - HUD.
