What is up with the light traffic from Leesburg to Tysons? I usually take the toll road but wasn't paying attention and missed the exit. I took Rt. 7 to Tysons and it took me 30 minutes (8 to 8:30am) to get to Tysons. I'm guessing its bc its a Friday and Summer. Wondering if I should take Rt. 7 atleast during the summer. Are there certain times of the morning when Rt. 7 to Tysons isn't bad? Just moved here from MD and had to deal with the Beltway everyday which was a nightmare!

Summer traffic. It'll get lighter in August before coming on STRONG after Labor Day. Enjoy it while it lasts. Fridays in summer are always lightest.

Yep...it's Friday traffic and summer time, on top of that. Was an easy commute today! Welcome to NOVA, by the way.

Swim teams are over, that means every family in Virginia is going on vacation. Every shrink leaves town too. This coming week Congress leaves town. August in Washington means MUCH less traffic!

Hahahahaha, it's so true about the swim teams. I've never seen anything like the relationship between affluent DC-area families and their swim teams...swimming is just not that popular in other places...

Just how fast are you going?! It takes me 20 minutes to get from RESTON to Tyson's, and Lord knows that Reston is about 20 minutes from Leesburg (i.e. Leesburg to Tyson's should be more like 40 minutes, no?). I speed, too.

Scranny,
Have you made the commute in the last two weeks? If not. you are in for a very pleasant surprise. Commuting in August is THE BEST month of the year. Everything is much less much less crowded, very pleasant to here in August, especially with this nice cool weather we're having.
