Hi! What is the area near Landmark Mall like? I am looking at some apartments near there and am hoping for an honest opinion. Thanks!

I'm curious how you found these apartments. The reason I ask is that a lot of people have been asking this question lately. What's the big attraction to Landmark Mall? Or is it that some apartment complex there is advertising like crazy?

I think the attraction is that it's the most affordable spot inside the Beltway. If you can't afford Arlington but still want a quick commute and a safe neighborhood, West End Alexandria is the place to go.

Also, there's a ton of different apartment complexes and condo complexes here.

I was trying to help someone who was moving here and even though I live here I was not familiar with the area. Would you live there?

Oh... I should have actually answered the question.

I currently live not far away from there so, yes, I would live there. There are complexes I've heard bad things about (off the top of my head, EOS and Edsall Gardens), but overall the area is safe and convenient.

Landmark Mall may become history soon.

It's a dying mall, and they may convert it into condos.

Did Landmark Mall ever have a "hey-day" in the first place? I don't recall it ever being anything but a dying mall. I used to go with my parents before they made it indoors, when you've walk outside from Sears to the Hechts. The only reason we ever went there was for Sears, and shoes at Thom McCann. Other than that, it was Springfield Mall for us.

Trust me, they have been talking about it even way before i got here in 2004. And there is no plan anytime soon to do anything with it. Makes me frustrated that land with so much location potential has a useless mall on top of it.

Don't know dude...

The commercial real estate/credit market/retail back then wasn't like it is now.
