We have a 3 day weekend coming up in October. They hubby and I were trying to find a relaxing place to go--where we won't have to drive too far, but will if we have to up to 3-4 hours. We really just need a nice weekend to break up our busy life in the DMV.

Considering Chesapeake Bay and St. Michaels. Any recommendations on where to stay there or other places to consider near the area.

Thx in advance!

Why not stay at a B&B in the Eastern WV Panhandle? You can enjoy yourselves in Harper's Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Sharpsburg, MD (Antietam Battlefield). You'll also be near to Charles Town (casino). Frederick, MD is also nice and is probably only about an hour (or less) from here as well.

Wife and I did the B&B in WVA....very relaxing. And yes, did the Charlestown thingy...just for a little while though. Wife put bubble bath in a whirlpool tub...entire bathroom was full of bubbles....something out of I Love Lucy...pretty funny.

Some people think I'm crazy, but I love going to the beach in October. Cape May is 4 hours away, and Columbus Day weekend goes over Victorian Week, a wine festival, and the Lima Bean Festival (yup, they have one), if you get bored. There's also concerts on Washington Mall around that time of year. Anyway, just a thought...

St. Michael's is a good choice, you could also look into Solomons Island. I've never stayed overnight in either place, so I don't know any good places.

There is always the Eastern Shore of Md - but I am taking the fiancee next weekend to Berkley Springs, WVA for his 30th. I found a spa resort that does a couples romantic weekend for about $500 (2 nights, couple massage, facial, whirlpool bath, bottle of wine, $60 in meal vouchers) and it's not far from DC.
