There was an interesting thread about MCD employees, recently. I went into a Walmart today, and all of the employees appeared to be in very poor health. Did I just go on the wrong day, or has anyone else noticed this?

This was on Liberia Rd. in Manassas.

What do you mean by "in poor health?"

Were the coughing and sneezing, limping, wheezing, what? In what way did they not look healthy to you?

If true, I wouldn't be surprised. People from lower socio-economic classes are generally at a major disadvantage when it comes to good health....and WalMart is pretty much the bottom of the barrel.

They don't eat right....healthy food costs more that the bad stuff. They almost never have health insurance, so manageable medical conditions aren't treated until they become big problems. Lack of education plays a big role too....

But to answer the question...no, I don't think poor health is a requirement of the job....it just goes with the territory.

Poor skin color, severe weight problems. One employee announced that she was going home to take some "pills." Many seemed to have vision problems.

The people there getting their prescriptions filled were even in worse shape.
I'd like to start a thread sometime about the pharmacies locating in the middle of the grocery stores. Who needs a swine flu shot when you are getting a sizable dose of it every time you visit one of these stores. If that isn't enough to wake up your immune system, nothing will.

Everyone's sick this time of year. Within a few weeks of school starting, the viruses start being passed around. Works this way every year. Every family I know has someone sick with a cold, sore throat, or allergies.

When you say ''vision problems'' do you mean they wear glasses? That's probably because they can't afford contacts like the rest of us.
