Fresh faces, thick wallets: Loudoun tops the nation in 25-34-year-olds with hefty incomes

Very interesting. (Arlington County is a "close second," according to the article.) Singles and childless couples apparently are slightly more than half (53%) of Loudoun's 25-34-year-olds.

I'm glad you posted this, I read it in the Post this morning. I found the article to be highly refreshing considering how often we are told by several CD members that places outside the Beltway are horrible areas to live for young singles. Apparently quite a few do like living in areas outside of Arlington, Alexandria, and the District.

I guess there's some appreciation at all ages for the relative peace and quiet one can find in communities in the farther suburbs.

Not to mention you get more for your money. I was surprised how much nicer of a place you can get out in Ashburn/Branbleton compared to Reston or Herndon even for the same and sometimes less $$. I still say its a bit too far out for me.

Could that really be true? The 25-34 age group now makes up 10% of Loudoun's population? A higher percentage than Arlington? Holy cow!

Somebody's gonna make a fortune catering to that group. That's a lot of young people with money who'll want some nearby places to have fun. It won't be long before we see former Circuit Cities transformed into hip night spots.

Well I fit the age group but not the income. :P It's still awesome to live in Loudoun County!

This was our deciding factor with moving to Ashburn, as we really wanted to be in fairfax or closer at first. We weren't too thrilled with what we saw in our price range for places in fairfax. For about the same price level, we ended up with a newer place, nicer floorplan, +1000 sqft, and another garage space. It was kinda a no brainer for us. And if we tried to buy in arlington, forget it, we would've gotten a 1-bedroom closet for the price of our place here.

It's a bit far, but not a huge deal and we're much happier in our home here.

Wow. Six figure incomes and not even 34 years old. Please tell me they hate their jobs!

Probably most of them enjoy their jobs which is why they're so successful at them. (NOT implying that if those who don't make that much don't love their jobs just as much and aren't successful too!)

Interesting that the article opened with the young guy who owns Eyebar now living in Ashburn. My bet is he'll be driving down Claiborne Parkway one day, see the perfect place for a club, and the next thing you know he'll open Eyebar West. Which would earn a from me. Ashburn could use a cool place to dance.

The big reason I think Eyebar could score in the burbs is the ethnic flavor. This is how my grandson bluntly puts it: Eyebar's appeal is "more hot Asian chicks that you can shake a stick at, Sikhs jamming to Punjabi music, pale white girls from Dayton, all mixing it up".

LOL, sounds like a description of Ashburn to me. Lots of rich kids from Asia, India, and Dayton out here in the burbs, just looking for a place to have fun. Eyebar West would do really well. Or maybe they would call it Earbar, you know, since the ear is west of the eye.
