Hi,

We currently reside in loudoun county and would like to move to either Vienna or any place in fairfax that is a bit closer to DC. Our main selection criteria is based on finding the best elementary school for our son. Could someone please suggest areas with best schools and reasonable commute to DC. We are looking at renting for the moment.

Thank you.

It depends on how much you can afford for rent. If you can afford to rent a SFH (~2300 a month for rent or more/check craigslist) you will have many more school options.

We can't afford anything near that am't. We found that the biggest problem was finding a clean suitable rental, thats family friendly, reserved parking convenient to the front door, without loud cars, huge dogs, loud late nite music, or loud late nite activity outside.

We found a place on craigslist that is just perfect and that is very lucky. Our private landlord is very responsible and although the area we are in has no families or kids, its quiet and the neighbors are respectful.

Thank you Leighland. Can someone suggest some good school districts so that we can focus our house search around that area? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good school districts would be Arlington, City of Falls Church, or Fairfax County. As you suggested, Vienna or McLean in Fairfax County have good schools.
