Hello NoVA residents. I just had a quick question on the traffic situation. Around what time does the afterwork 95 south traffic lighten up? I'm coming from Baltimore and I normally try to travel through NoVa around midnight to avoid most all of the traffic. Is 9pm too early? Thanks in advance!

You arenn't thinking of the Wednesday before Turkey day are you? If so it's probably too late to beat that traffic.

Seriously tho the new Wilson bridge and the improved merge has helped a lot. There will still be bottlenecks further along. The commuter traffic is moving along VA I95 by 7. THe HOV lanes open sb at 6pm. Remember Construction zone setups usually start at 9pm.

I've driven down to Richmond a few times after rush hour, leaving DC around 7:30, and never had much of a problem. There are a lot of trucks south of Springfield, but it moves fine by 8pm on a typical weeknight. Thanksgiving would be another story though.

Agreed, you should be fine at 9pm unless there is something very unusual going on.
