If you want privacy live underground. I think public figures should have zero privacy. That's the price they pay.

TMZ, FTW!

Jeez. I read part of this thread, and realized that if you are thinking & wondering about celebrities in the DC area you obviously don't have enough to do! WHO CARES?? They are only people! Who cares about where they live & what they do & where they go to shop, etc., ad nauseum!!? It is this mindset about celebrities and what they do/where they go/what they think that literally makes me gag. All the sports figures make that money because people like you PAY IT to go & see them throw a ball in a hoop, or hit a ball with a stick.

^ I don't get your point. People like entertainment. Always been this way since the start of civilization.

It was a rant that went off topic... Thanks for keeping me in check, I'll try and remain on point in the future.

I'm with you, I don't get the point either. A lot of people care. Look at the shows on TV, the entertainment magazines in the stores, the sports bars on Sunday... Right now I am wearing a sweatshirt with the logo of my favorite team. The money should go to the people who provide the entertainment.

On the original topic: Caron Butler, now his house looks pretty average in comparison.

The trick now is to lead such a boring mundane life so that no one will want to cyber snoop on you with sat photos. I personally have no problem with satellite images or police cameras, as long as you obey the law and don't live such a pompous life no one will even think to spy on you. But as stated, some people love the attention their lifestyle brings them, and so they in effect sacrifice a good measure of their privacy. I do agree that the TMZ type paparazzi go way overboard to the point of absurdity. I can't believe some people are that obsessed with celebrities.

This is true... but who gives a darn where they live or what they do on their own personal time? The key word there is personal...

I'm not impressed by celebrity status, don't care where they live or what they do. They have their job: entertain me. Outside of that, I couldn't care less about what they think, say or do. I am busy living my life.

People care because these celebrities are living lavish lifes. The lives most dream about living.

Much like a political figure, celebrities can be scrutinized for what they do. It should be that way; we pay for their huge paychecks by indulging in their films, products, etc.

Exactly. The thing that bothers me the most is showing photos of the homes of judges, politicians, business owners, etc. Those people attract a lot of stalkers, criminals, and nutcases who think breaking into a house and kidnapping kids is a good way to influence the law.

So now we post detailed photos showing the best ways to break into somebody's house. Every time their job makes them go out of town, criminals can strike. Nice. And the guy can never get a moment to relax in his own backyard, because if he dares to dive into his own swimming pool some satellite photo will take an embarrassing photo. His kids can never play outside because paparazzi photos can be very damaging to children.

And then we wonder why we can't get good candidates to run for office or to serve as judges.

I have nothing against cameras in public areas (stop lights, shopping malls, court rooms, etc.) But spying on people's homes is wrong.

And I think that's wrong, too. I applaud the people who are trying to sue Google. I hope they win. But at least Google doesn't identify who owns each house--that's really crossing the line, IMO. Although sadly, it's easy enough to figure out. Might as well just post schedules of when the home owners are likely to be out of town, too.

I can see no good that comes from photos like these. Seriously, what good do they do, except to tickle your voyeurism? At the same time I can see a lot of bad that can happen from posting these photos.
