We live in Burke. The mail was delivered Monday but hasn't been since. The carriers are delivering packages, just not letters. I asked the neighbors, same for them. Anyone else having issues? Anyone know what gives? I tried to call the post office but it just rings and rings.

We have gotten mail service all week except last Saturday, when all the snow was falling, and yesterday (Wed.). Not sure why yesterday was skipped.

We're in West Springfield. There are some steep hills in our area, and the plowing has not been consistent on the roads.

I'm in Haymarket and I've been getting my mail. So I'm not sure what gives in your area? I can understand last Saturday, but the days after that I have no idea why you're not getting your mail.

I live in Woodbridge and did not get mail on Saturday or Monday. The mail truck was through the neighborhood on Monday but since there was so much snow around the mailboxes he only stopped at the houses that had clear access to the mailbox (which was around two houses). Since then, though, I've gotten mail. Is your mailbox clear? They do not have to deliver to your box if you are not clear.

Received mail everyday except on the Saturday (snowfall day). We made a path for the postlady so she can reach our box without having to trudge through the snow banks. And yes, if your box is not clear, they don't stop (we found that out the first time we had major snow and didn't clear our box).

Our approach was clear. I called the post office to see what was up. They said that most carriers are having a really hard time, even now, getting around on our roads. Kind of bogus but at least we got mail Thrusday.

After the 2003 snowstorm we didn't get mail for a full week. I called the post office and was told that the carrier had been snowed into her neighborhood in Woodbridge for the entire week and couldn't get to work. I said, yeah right , well why don't you send a substitute? Got no satisfactory response but they delivered it all the next day.

What? I thought, according to the ScranBarre-haters on this forum, that Virginia did a good job clearing the roads? For what it's worth I still hadn't received my backlog of the Washington Post when I left NoVA yesterday. I'm wondering if I'll get a week's worth of papers all at once.

Hi CathyL100-

We are in Burke too and the same thing happened. Got mail on Monday, nothing Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we had two mail deliveries yesterday. I will say that we saw our mailman trying to get around on our roads and he was having a difficult time on Monday. Our development was barely plowed. I called the conservancy and was told it's VDOT's responsibility.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

It was the Conservancy trucks that were out plowing the roads though. Hmm. Don't we pay a specific amount for snow removal in our yearly dues? We were in another neighborhood Wednesday, they had a pretty good handle on the roads. We still have 2 inches of thick snow.
