Looking at moving into the Potomac Falls area. Any opinions on Horizon Elementary School? (have two preschoolers that will be starting next year).

I've heard a bit about Lowes Island Elementary, with rather positive feedback, but don't know anyone that has a child in Horizon Elementary.

Thanks!

Hi, I guess to expand our search, does anyone have thoughts about any of the elementary schools in the Lowes island - Cascades - Potomac Falls area. We're looking to move there - I work in DC and my wife will work in Chantilly. This area seems very good for our needs, but we having a tough time getting info on the public schools out there. Also, are there any private schools (like Catholic elementary schools) in the area?
Thanks much for any thoughts or opinions...

There are only two Catholic elementary schools in Loudoun County; one of them is Our Lady of Hope in Potomac Falls.

I've heard many, many positive comments about Lowes Island Elementary. Some people I know actually move to the neighborhood just for that school. One of my neighbors has a kid at OLOH and they like it. Haven't heard anything about Horizon.

Thanks much! It's kinda odd that there seems to be nothing much about Horizon Elementary on the web (in terms of opinions/reviews).

the elementary schools in Lowes Island, Cascades and Potomac falls are all very good.
YOu might have better luck with info if you do a search on Sterling...look for posts by Normie, she lives/ed(?) in Cascades.

Thanks for thinking of me. I was hesitant to write a post because I don't have kids at Lowes Island anymore. But, FWIW, when they went there I thought it was top notch. The teachers were enthusiastic about the subjects and their spirit was contagious. Science class was especially cool. Lee Ann Poindexter was an amazing art teacher, hope she's still there.

I also haven't heard any reviews one way or the other about Horizon. I don't know why.

We did just that. Heard/read great things about Lowes Island Elem then found a place to live within the boundaries. We couldn't be happier w/this school. Don't have any info about Horizon. I know Ashburn has good schools, also. We wavered back & forth between there & Cascades, but we're definitely happy w/our choice. Good luck!
