If there is anyone out there who can provide me with information on programs in the DC area (DC/MD/NorthVA) for kids with special needs I would greatly appreciate it. Our 5 year old son has been diagnosed with mental retardation and some autism. He shows us too many signs that he knows what he wants (gestures 100%) and will get whatever he wants (reasoning skills) if we do not or don't understand what he wants. He is currently in a Kindergarten Life Skills Program. The jury is still out on that as far as I am concerned. I'm just not convinced that he is receiving all that he can to help him "catch-up."

I see school buses from Charles, Prince George's, Montgomery Counties, and DC dropping kids off at Phillips Programs at Braddock & Backlick Rds in Springfield.
